Portrait of Kelly Ziadie, IntelliDyne VP, DOJ Operations

Employee Spotlight on Kelly Ziadie

What is your role at IntelliDyne?
I am responsible for the operations of all IntelliDyne contracts at the Department of Justice (DOJ) and for growing our DOJ business.

What about your job makes you jump out of bed each morning?
My team members look to me for guidance on a daily basis. I have an obligation to set them up for success and that gets me out of bed every morning.

What influenced or drove you to become an expert in your field?
I am much more laid back in my personal life, but I am a perfectionist in my professional life. I hate doing a job that could have been done better. I don’t exactly know what the definition of an expert is, but I am constantly reviewing what I have done trying to find ways where it could have been done better. It is an unachievable goal, but somewhere along the way, I guess I became known as an expert.

What was your dream job growing up?
As a young boy, I grew up in the heyday of the Apollo moon missions… I wanted to be an astronaut.

How do you motivate and inspire your team?
It is essential that the team truly believes and trusts that I am looking out for their best interests, not just the company’s. That trust has to be earned by doing just that! Over time, once that trust is earned, motivation and inspiration becomes a simple affair… people are generally willing to do almost anything to support you.

How do you support your team’s professional development?
There is no magic formula for this. Having regular one-on-one conversations with each team member to learn what their goals, dreams, aspirations, and fears are is the first step. I then help them to craft a plan to achieve their professional goals. The key is that their present job is irrelevant to the conversation, we focus on where they want to go, not where they are.

What is your personal motto or mantra?
Making mistakes is OK, but don’t make the same mistake twice, learn from your mistakes.

Which one of our corporate values is the most meaningful to you?
This is not an easy question to answer because I believe all 6 are critical to our success, but if I could only pick one, I would say integrity because, without it, all the others are meaningless.

What is one unique or fun fact that others may not know about you?
I am an amateur Horologist and ham radio operator.
